The NY Tech Meetup Showcase

May 7th, 2009 · Comments

UPDATE: BETTER INFO ON THE EVENT HERE

On Tuesday, we were very proud to announce the NY Tech Meetup Showcase!

(Okay, Nate called it the Demo Pit that night, but has since been advised to change the name.)

What’s the Showcase? During Internet Week, it will be the single biggest and best place to see demos from NYC’s coolest tech startups and their products. The revolutionary part of the Showcase is that it’s TOTALLY FREE for presenting companies AND attendees, and is brought to the community by the NY Tech Meetup and its Community Committee.

When and where is it?

June 2nd, 3:30 – 6:30pm, at the FIT Great Hall, immediately preceding the month NY Tech Meetup taking place in the Haft Auditorium. FIT is located on 27th Street, between 7th and 8th Avenues.

How do I present my demo?

To demo your company in the Showcase, submit an application here before EOD May 19th. We’ll then choose 60 companies to be in the Showcase by the end of May 22nd — that week.

What do I get when I present?

In order to fit the most number of companies in the Showcase, we’re giving every presenting company half a table top to share with another startup. That means you’ll get to bring your laptop and one representative to site behind the table (though you may have more in front of the table). While you can’t bring any monitors to take up more space, you may bring schwag to give away. The whole idea is to be free and lightweight for the Community! You don’t need a big screen, just your passion.

What else do you get? How about the largest public attendance at any event during Internet Week? Not a bad perk, eh?

How can I help?

Glad you asked! Well, we could certainly use a refreshment sponsor. If you’re interested and have a few thousand dollars to spend (wisely), contact Nate to talk details.
