Help Promote the NYTM Student Group!

January 30th, 2010 · Comments

Attention NY Technologists!

My name is Trevor and I am a senior at NYU. There’s no doubt in 2010 we will see a comeback in NY Tech Scene. With the recent loss of jobs more people are turning to entrepreneurship. However, unless we take this opportunity to bring on board our city’s universities, this comeback will be short-lived. As an NYU student I know that my university’s entrepreneurial offerings are not on-par with our western counterparts. Young entrepreneurs do not have nearly the exposure and access to mentoring opportunities. My peers at Columbia agree.

For this reason I am starting the NYTM Student Group to bring together student leaders from all of our city’s universities, increase their involvement and exposure in the community, and thereby grow the NY Tech Scene from the bottom-up.

Please assist me in promoting our kick-off event this Tuesday Feb. 2nd, from 5-6pm before the NYTM.

  1. Tweet about the event
  2. Share the event on facebook
  3. Send a quick email to interested faculty, staff, & students, at NYC’s universities (Flyer below, RSVP link here: http://anyvite.com/ica4sve9wa)
  4. Email me if you’re an entrepreneur interested in being a student group mentor. (trevor.owens@stern.nyu.edu)

Thank you everyone, here’s to the NY Tech comeback in 2010!

Trevor

PS. Students, faculty, & staff, post in the comments if you have questions or to let me know you are out there.

Founded in 2004 by Scott Heiferman, the NY Tech Meetup has over 8,000 members, representing people from all parts of the New York technology community. Each month, six companies and developers demo technology they've been working on in front of a 400+ sold out crowd.
The NY Tech Meetup is a community-led organization, and is not for profit. It is currently organized by Nate Westheimer.
